Petru began painting religious scenes in Romania to show his faith and protest communism.

Traditional training makes his art different than most contemporary religious art. “I still follow the old idea of when we make an image for God, we don't put ourselves,  our ideas in front of God.” The purpose of his works is to communicate something, not to express his personal ideas. “You perceive it in a fraction of seconds.”
